AHITH FEST 2025: Short Block 7 (9 Short Films) @ 10 AM

A collection of genre short films, including horror, science fiction, fantasy, and thriller/suspense.

A man’s reality shatters under an unseen threat in The Prowler, while Don’t Leave Me explores mental health spiraling into something predatory. Myth, ritual, and maternal terror collide in the surreal Feast of the Serpent. Among the Wounded races through a snow-covered housing project as a mother searches for her missing son amid a drug-fueled epidemic.

Paranormal chaos erupts in the darkly comedic ¡ALPACA! when an influencer brings home more than souvenirs. In Ignominy, sleep paralysis and humiliation nightmares blur identity and reality. Horns traps two friends in a claustrophobic, voice-filled descent into fear, while Jordan Just Needs to Relax questions whether the end of the world is all in someone’s head—or not.

Closing the block, Hat Trick brings grief, magic, and sinister humor together at a children’s birthday party like no other.

A tight, eerie, genre-bending showcase—perfect for fans of psychological horror, surreal worlds, and unsettling mystery.

Followed by an audience Q&A session with attending filmmakers.

AHITH FEST 2025: Conan the Barbarian (w/ Live Re-Score by SLEEPBOMB) @ 7:30 PM

"After three long years in the wilderness, Conan the Barbarian has returned to civilization! Sleepbomb is bringing back their iconic alternative score for the classic John Milius 1982 swords and snakes epic at Another Hole in the Head 2025. Learn the Riddle of Steel, marvel at the Eye of the Serpent and climb the temple to the Tree of Woe. You will experience the thrills and chills of Arnold Schwarzenegger's breakthrough film like never before! Conan is a wanderer, so who know's when he may return? Be there!!!

Founded in 2003, Sleepbomb is a San Francisco-based psychedelic doom project focused on full, original scores for genre films including the German Expressionist silent masterpieces - The Cabinet of Dr. CaligariNosferatu and Metropolis as well as scores for George Romero’s 1968 classic zombie film Night of the Living Dead and the 1982 epic Conan the Barbarian. Stylistically ranging from drone and electronics to sludge and doom metal, Sleepbomb has been described informally as a combination of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Neurosis with a little Steve Reich for flavor. Sleepbomb's unique scores provide a transformative take on classic genre films, recontextualizing them for our modern age.

In 2023, Sleepbomb joined Bill Gould’s koolarrow records for the release of their first full film score, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, also available worldwide via Belgium's Consouling Sounds. This was followed by the 2025 release of their score for the original zombie flick - George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead also on koolarrow and Consouling Sounds."

A horde of rampaging warriors massacre the parents of young Conan and enslave the young child for years on The Wheel of Pain. As the sole survivor of the childhood massacre, Conan is released from slavery and taught the ancient arts of fighting. Transforming himself into a killing machine, Conan travels into the wilderness to seek vengeance on Thulsa Doom, the man responsible for killing his family. In the wilderness, Conan takes up with the thieves Valeria and Subotai. The group comes upon King Osric, who wants the trio of warriors to help rescue his daughter who has joined Doom in the hills.

AHITH FEST 2025: Silent Night Deadly Night 1984 on VHS (+ 1 Short Film) @ 8:30 PM

Get ready for a gloriously retro night of holiday horror—because we’re screening Silent Night, Deadly Night straight from a real VHS tape. That means tape hiss, analog fuzz, soft edges, and the exact gritty charm that defined the golden age of ’80s video rentals. This is how cult slashers were meant to be seen.

The infamous 1984 shocker follows Billy Chapman, whose childhood is destroyed when he witnesses his parents’ murder at the hands of a killer dressed as Santa—right after his unhinged grandfather warns him that Santa punishes the naughty. Traumatized and raised in a harsh orphanage, Billy grows up carrying a wound that never heals. And when Christmas rolls around again, the holiday spirit pushes him over the edge… turning him into the most terrifying Santa the suburbs have ever seen.

Upon release, Silent Night, Deadly Night became one of the most controversial horror films of the decade. Parents protested outside theaters, TV commercials terrified unsuspecting families, and the uproar was so intense that the movie was pulled after just one week—despite a strong box-office opening. Of course, that only fueled its underground reputation. Decades later, it stands as a beloved cult classic that spawned sequels, a remake, and endless debates about naughty vs. nice.

Seeing it on VHS, projected for a crowd of genre-loving misfits, amps up that midnight-movie energy like nothing else. It’s gritty. It’s raw. It’s nostalgic in the best (and bloodiest) way possible.

🎄 This is your chance to relive the most controversial Christmas slasher ever—analog style.
Grab your tickets, grab some eggnog, and prepare for a holiday massacre.

He sacrficed his education for his brother's, kept the family-run savings and loan afloat, protected the town from the avarice of the greedy banker Mr. Potter, and married his childhood sweetheart. As he prepares to jump from a bridge, his guardian angel intercedes, showing him what life would have become for the residents of Bedford Falls if he had never lived.

A vivid, visceral Macbeth adaptation, Throne of Blood, directed by Akira Kurosawa, sets Shakespeare’s definitive tale of ambition and duplicity in a ghostly, fog-enshrouded landscape in feudal Japan. As a hardened warrior who rises savagely to power, Toshiro Mifune gives a remarkable, animalistic performance, as does Isuzu Yamada as his ruthless wife. Throne of Blood fuses classical Western tragedy with formal elements taken from Noh theater to create an unforgettable cinematic experience.

In Anselm, Wim Wenders creates a portrait of Anselm Kiefer, one of the most innovative and important painters and sculptors of our time. Shot in 6K-resolution, the film presents a cinematic experience of the artist’s work which explores human existence and the cyclical nature of history, inspired by literature, poetry, philosophy, science, mythology and religion. For over two years, Wenders traced Kiefer’s path from his native Germany to his current home in France, connecting the stages of his life to the essential places of his career that spans more than five decades.

To Have and Have Not @ 7:30 PM

Help the Free French? Not world-weary gunrunner Harry Morgan (Humphrey Bogart). But he changes his mind when a sultry siren-in-distress named Marie asks, "Anybody got a match?"

That red-hot match is Bogart and 19-year-old first-time film actress Lauren Bacall. Full of intrigue and racy banter (including Bacall's legendary whistling instructions), this thriller excites further interest for what it has and has not.

Cannily directed by Howard Hawks and smartly written by William Faulkner and Jules Furthman, it doesn't have much similarity to the Ernest Hemingway novel that inspired it. And it strongly resembles Casablanca: French resistance fighters, a piano-playing bluesman (Hoagy Carmichael) and a Martinique bar much like Rick's Cafe Americaine.

But first and foremost, it showcases Bogart and Bacall, carrying on with a passion that smolders from the tips of their cigarettes clear through to their souls.

Stanley Kubrick’s career-capping Eyes Wide Shut unfolds in a dreamscape vision of New York City, where doctor Bill Harford (Tom Cruise) and his wife, Alice (Nicole Kidman), confront the unconscious desires, jealousies, and fears threatening their marriage. A Christmastime odyssey into a surreal sexual underworld whose hidden power structures are laid frighteningly bare, the film marks the fulfillment of the director’s decades-long desire to adapt Arthur Schnitzler’s novella Traumnovelle (Dream Story) and the culmination of his obsessive interest in the relationship between institutional authority and the individual. Released in 1999, the film also serves as a fitting coda to a century of cinema, by one of its greatest visionaries—an endlessly tantalizing labyrinth whose myriad symbols, mysteries, and meanings are still being unraveled.

AHITH FEST 2025: The Amityville Horror (on 16mm) @ 8 PM

Step inside one of horror’s most infamous haunted houses—projected on a rare, battle-worn 16mm print that gives this supernatural classic an eerie, dreamlike glow all its own. Slightly pink, a little aged, and absolutely atmospheric, this print turns The Amityville Horror into an experience that feels unearthed from another era… as if the house itself is reaching through the film.

Based on the real-life legend that terrified a generation, the film follows George and Kathy Lutz and their three children as they move into a gorgeous, unbelievably affordable Victorian home on Long Island. It doesn’t take long for the dream to curdle: the walls seem to breathe, the house whispers, and each family member begins to slip into violent visions, dark impulses, and a terror that grips deeper by the day.

Few supernatural films have cast a shadow as long as The Amityville Horror, and seeing it on a vintage 16mm print—complete with authentic wear, flicker, and that ghostly magenta tint—makes it feel even more cursed, more unsettling, and more alive.

For horror fans, collectors, and lovers of analog cinema, this is a must-see, one-night-only possession.

Come brave the house… if you dare.

AHITH FEST 2025: Frankenstein (on 16mm) @ 6:30 PM

Experience one of cinema’s most iconic horror masterpieces the way it was meant to be seen—projected on original 16mm film.

James Whale’s Frankenstein (1931) remains a cornerstone of the genre, bringing Mary Shelley’s gothic tale to the screen with haunting style and unmatched atmosphere. The film follows Henry Frankenstein, a brilliant yet obsessive scientist determined to conquer death by assembling a human being from stolen body parts. But when his creation awakens—not as the idealized man he imagined, but as a confused, powerful, and terrifying creature—Henry’s ambition collapses into a nightmare he can no longer control.

Boris Karloff’s legendary performance as the Monster elevates the film from early horror curiosity to enduring classic, blending tragedy, terror, and unmistakable humanity.

This rare 16mm screening offers a unique chance to witness the texture, flicker, and film-grain magic that defined early horror cinema.

A perfect event for fans of vintage film, monster movies, and the roots of everything that came after.

AHITH FEST 2025: Charon (The Jar, 1984) @ 7:45 PM

Paul (Gary Wallace) is traveling home one evening after work when he finds an old man who is injured on the side of the road. Paul stops and carries the man to his care in order to take him home and clean him up. The old man tells Paul about a jar that he cannot leave there and for him to pick it up. Paul then gets home and the old man disappears but the jar remains...and consumes Paul. Are things spiraling for Paul? Is the jar making him see visions? What could be next?

Charon, aka The Jar, was released by Magnum Entertainment in 1984 and was omnipresent in video rental stores. While the film was shot in scope, the distributor released it in a butchered cropped presentation cutting out about half of the intended frame in a murky VHS transfer. Terror Vision has restored Charon/The Jar using a partial camera negative along with a print to finally offer director Bruce Toscano’s unique vision in all its beautiful, color drenched glory. Accompanied by a stunning synth score and bonus material, this is a striking new viewing experience for even longtime fans of the film.

AHITH FEST 2025: Bad Haircut (+ 2 Short Films) @ 8:30 PM

Kick off Opening Night with a wild, dark-comedy ride that’s equal parts chaotic, heartfelt, and absolutely unhinged.

Billy Crumpus has zero confidence, zero game, and—well—that haircut. After a disastrous party, his friends drag him to their “miracle worker” barber… who turns out to be an eccentric madman with a talent for pushing people way past their limits.

What should’ve been a quick trim spirals into a full-blown, thrill-packed adventure with twists, danger, and the worst (best?) day of Billy’s entire life. Through the madness, he might just find the confidence he’s been searching for.

A genre-blending blast made for anyone who grew up quoting their favorite cult comedies at school, Bad Haircut brings the energy, the weirdness, and the heart—and it’s aiming to become someone’s new favorite movie.

🔥 Don’t miss this Opening Night crowd-pleaser.

+ 2 Short Films

  • The Baby (Dir. Taylor Bustamante, 16 Minutes)

  • Grimoires - Hounds (Official Music Video) (Dir. Paul Ouellette, 5 Minutes)

AHITH FEST 2025: Beyond the Drumlins (+4 Short Films) @ 6 PM

Step into the darkness early at Hole in the Head with Beyond the Drumlins, a gripping blend of folk horror and cosmic sci-fi that spirals into one of the year’s most unnerving descents into the unknown.

As autumn creeps across New England, Professor Jonathan Rust is scrambling to salvage his semester with a last-ditch field expedition—part research trip, part desperate attempt to secure tenure, and maybe even regain a sense of direction. Joined by a small team of colleagues and friends, Jonathan sets out to find the perfect dig site. But the discovery they’re chasing is nothing compared to the terror that finds them first.

When one of their own suddenly disappears, the group is thrust into a chilling collision of reality and the afterlife—where folklore feels like truth, and truth feels like madness. What begins as an innocent academic outing unravels into a nightmare of shifting worlds, buried secrets, and forces far beyond human comprehension.

Echoing the dread-soaked legacy of Event HorizonAlien, and Prince of DarknessBeyond the Drumlins delivers smart, atmospheric horror for audiences who crave intelligent genre work with teeth. It’s dark, it’s eerie, and it’s exactly the kind of film Hole in the Head audiences devour.

Come early, settle in, and prepare yourself—the festival’s first major plunge into cosmic terror starts here.
